Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of K-Beach Elementary, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and we want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibility.

If you are planning to volunteer in the classroom, chaperone field trips, or have lunch with your student, be sure to complete a new Volunteer Application for the current school year.  The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District requires this yearly screening as part of our commitment to student safety. The volunteer application can be found on the district website under the ‘Volunteers’ tab.  It can take up to 10 days to process a volunteer application, so it is best to complete one well in advance of any activities that you are interested in.  The directions are as follows:

  1.  Go to the KPBSD homepage (http://www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us/)
  2.  Click on the ‘Volunteers’ tab.
  3.  Click ‘New Volunteer Application’ and then ‘Start’
  4.  Fill in required info and submit – should take about 5 minutes.

Approved volunteers will need to sign in at the front office and get a volunteer badge during each visit.

One new change that I would like to make you aware of is that you will receive an automated phone call letting you know your student’s teacher. Class lists will not be posted on the door the Friday before school starts as was done in the past. Please plan to stop by the Open House on August 20, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. to meet your student’s teacher.

I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal.  Please stop by and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children.
